What To Do When You're Not Sure What To Do

As always this picture has absolutely no relevance to the point of this blog post, but hey it is a pretty picture in the classy Fortnum & Mason store that deserves to be shown off!

January can be a dull month and its lucky we're over half way through it and can see the end of the tunnel. I was having a conversation with a friend at the weekend about feeling demotivated and not wanting to do anything anymore, probably made worse because we're still in January.

It sparked an idea in my head that surely we're not the only people discussing this right now - everyone must have that feeling of despair at not knowing what to do at times. So I thought I could hopefully share some advice on what to do when you're not sure what to do...

1. Make plans with friends and family
A simple text or call to organised a coffee or lunch with friends and family can do the world of difference to lift you out of your mood. If you don't motivate yourself to see other people and get out there, I find that when I do I feel like myself again.

2. Spend timing doing something you love
It's easy to fall into a pit of self-pity and wallowing in endless Netflix programs when you're not feeling yourself. But pulling yourself out of that cloud and doing something you love, whether it's baking, going for a fun, going to the shops or trying out new makeup, really does help to lift your mood. Just make sure it's something you're doing for yourself.

3. Take a break and forget the pressure
Remembering that taking a break from the pressure is okay too. When I get stuck in situations where I'm not sure what to do, I simply take a step back and drop the pressure that's hanging over me. Sometimes it's as easy as remembering that to help you.

4. If there is something bothering you, tackle it on the head
I am the biggest worrier in the world, literally the smallest thing can cause me to spin into a spiral of not knowing what to do. The best thing I can do in these situations is to tackle whatever is worrying me on the head. You'll feel relief and like a weight is lifted off your shoulders when you've got whatever is worrying you off your mind.

What advice do you have for when you're not sure what to do?
