My Malaysia Trip: Kota Kinnabalu Part Four

The final addition to my Malaysia trip! After spending a few days in Kuala Lumpur, travelling north to the Cameron Highlands and the amazing stay in the Borneo jungle, I was more than happy for a few days of R&R.

Kota Kinabalu is about a 45 minute plane ride from Sandakan and is known as a gorgeous beach resort. We stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria hotel, a bit of luxury for our final nights in Malaysia!

Unfortunately we weren't graced with the best weather, actually most of the days we stayed in Kota Kinabalu were raining with a few pockets of sun! Because of the rubbish weather (we were on the edge of the start of monsoon season) the hotel had a host of activities, a cinema room and an on site spa. We visited the spa one day for a back, shoulder and neck massage which was glorious.

These photos were taken on the day when we had brilliant weather, almost clear and blue skies with a very hot sun. So hot that of course I managed to burn myself...

Everyone raved about the sunsets at Kota Kinnabalu and especially the views from the hotel beach. The sunset looked a lot better in real life than in this photo! The hotel had onsite restaurants ranging from Italian, classic Malaysian dishes and Japanese cuisine, there really was something for everyone.

We had garden facing rooms with a balcony, massive bathroom and double bed. The decor really was high class and made my stay so comfortable after bunking it in the jungle!

I managed to read many books, slept and ate a lot and did absolutely nothing for a few days. It was the best way to round off a perfect trip and something I won't be forgetting for a long while.

Catch up with my Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands and Borneo posts to see what else I got up to in Malaysia!

Have you ever been to Malaysia before? What are your travel plans for 2018?

Thanks for reading!
