Feeling Nostalgic

I like feeling nostalgic, looking back at happy memories with a smile on my face and wishing I could have one moment there to relive it all again. The dictionary definition of nostalgia is a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past. And that's where I have a problem with it.

Having been through school, college and now working full time, I sometimes wish for the easy life of only having to worry about my homework or how I did my hair for school the next day. Is it weird to want to be a kid again? Especially when all I wanted to be when I was a kid was to be a grown-up. There are so many cool and exciting things about being an adult, don't get me wrong I wouldn't change anything that's happened in the past few years! But there's something naive and endearing I guess about being a kid again.

Underneath my bed I have a large box full to the brim of nostalgia. There's the cake toppers my sister made for my 21st birthday last year, my ID card for when I was at City College in Brighton, special wrapping paper that I was given by my best friend, medals from charity walks and runs and so much more.

One thing I am particularly organised about is keeping tickets and momentos from holidays abroad, I have two books full of cinema and concert tickets, maps from various cities and general random bits and bobs that remind me of happy memories. I still keep these things today and even though some people ask why do you keep all of these things, it's so that I can look back in one, five or even ten years time and remember that memory like it was yesterday.

What's your opinion on nostalgia? Do you keep tickets and momentos?

Thanks for reading!
