Packing For A Weekend Trip

So a week from today I'll be on my first city break of the year to Edinburgh. It's actually the first time I'll be travelling with just a cabin bag on a plane, previously I've always had hold luggage and never had to worry about what I packed! So I thought I would share my tips for packing for a weekend trip.

1. Roll everything.
I've always done this with my clothes as not only does it help with avoid creases, but rolling clothes saves a lot of room! I generally roll most things except for bulky jumpers which lie better flat.

2. Plan your outfits.
As well as looking at the weather before you go, I like to plan my outfits ahead to make sure I'm getting the most of out my clothes! On Day 1 and Day 2 I can wear the same top, but maybe I'll switch up my jeans for skirt.

3. Keep the things you'll need for the plane in a separate bag.
My mum once had to put her cabin luggage in the hold because there wasn't enough room on the plane overhead lockers for her case. So always make sure you have everything you need for the plane in a separate bag!

4. Bring extra plastic bags.
I generally keep my shoes either in a bag or in the little shoe pockets, but it's a good idea to put them in a plastic bag to keep any dirt away from your clothes. I also use the bags to put any dirty clothes in, so I can just take the bag out for washing when I'm home.

5. Check your luggage.
Make sure it's cabin luggage size and if you're not sure, check what the correct size is with your airline. I'd also recommend choosing a luggage bag with the extendable zips because if you're anything like me, you'll be bringing back more shopping than when you came with!

What are your best tips for packing for a weekend trip?
