Blogging Tips

I love reading tips about blogging, anything that can help to improve my blog is always a bonus to me! Everything But The Kitchen Sink has been around for about four years now, but I've only really put the effort in about 3 years ago and have seen a massive difference in my engagement and following with other bloggers. Plus I'd say it helped me get my current job in online marketing too. But enough with the story of my blog and onto my top tips...

Don't let negativity get you down
It's so easy to get absorbed into blogging and feeling down about your blog. At the end of the day, it's something you enjoy doing and should feel happy. Yes there will be some bad apples, but the majority are so welcoming and friendly that I haven't personally felt that.

Don't let the numbers get you down
Probably the thing that has got me down the most about my blog is that my numbers aren't the strongest, partly why I don't agree with the 'Help me out to get to 1,000 followers please!' tweets. If you get too fixated on the numbers and follower counts then that would take away the fun of it! Have goals and aims for your blog, but don't let the numbers get you down.

It doesn't have to cost the world
I'll be posting a bloggers myths post soon and this one is included! But it's a really good tip to remember when blogging. I used to take topical pieces from the news and add my own spin and opinion to it, which doesn't cost a thing except for the Internet. There's tons of articles on doing free things in London and big cities around the UK, so create a post around those experiences!

Write about what you want
So important for blogging too! If you don't write about what you want, it'll show. People will prefer a quality post once or twice a week over a half-hearted post every day on subjects you don't even like. It's you who presses publish and have control over your blog, so you do you!

Don't be afraid to get involved!
I wish someone had told me about Twitter chats with bloggers at the beginning and which hashtags to use on Instagram. Getting involved in chats and hashtags is a great way to share your blog and link up with our bloggers you wouldn't have necessarily found. Don't underestimate using social media for you blog!

These are just a few handy tips and tricks to try when blogging, they're not set in stone and strict guidelines to follow but something handy to read!

What's your best blogging tip?

Thanks for reading!
