Beginner's Blogging Series: Organisation

So this is the last post in my Beginner's Blogging Series! It's been so fun to write these posts and great to see so many people enjoying them too - hopefully more ideas like this to come in the future! If there's one aspect of blogging I'm actually good at, it'll be organisation! I'm obsessed with writing lists (yes I am still old school and actually write lists...) then ticking off each task once it's been done. Because I work full time and have about two hours of free time each evening during the week, being productive and organised with my blog at the weekend is crucial. I'm sure these tips may not be new to you and it'll probably show up how much of an organised person I am, but I do hope it inspires you to be more organised!

First up is Calendars. I couldn't now work without my monthly content calendar - it keeps me on track when writing and gives me an idea of where my blog is going this week. When I was at school and college I would post most days spontaneously, but now my free time is limited scheduling my posts in advance helps keep my blog fresh with content every week.

I use free calendars from Calendar Craze and just print off a calendar each month then write new posts in every week. As I'm sure most bloggers do, I follow a pattern of OOTD's every Thursday, some sort of lifestyle post on a Sunday then a beauty or review post on Tuesdays and Saturdays - it helps to stick to a content theme so your readers know what to expect, but spontaneity is exciting and fun for your readers too! Once I have a post idea I write them in green pen on the publish day, then underneath a pink W for when I have written it, a purple P for when I have taken the photos and a blue S for when I have scheduled in the social media posts - might seem a little crazy organised but that way you won't forget anything!

I wouldn't be anywhere writing my blog without my notebook. The notebook and pens were a Christmas gift from my family, the notebook is from Laura Ashley and the pens are from Paperchase. I leave both on the bedside table, so when I'm having a evening brainstorm I can write down a few blog post ideas. I'll also write down my OOTD's from the week so I can then bulk photograph them at the weekend when it's light (although I am looking forward to lighter evenings!). Sometimes I write to-do lists in their too and any other little notes like my travel plans for the year and just general ideas.

I'd really recommend getting a notebook for new bloggers, they're helpful for writing down ideas and inspirations from other bloggers. I also have a page in the back of the book of Twitter chat timings, so if I do find a spare hour one evening I can see what's going on with bloggers on Twitter. Paperchase have gorgeous books, Kikki K have a great selection too and TK Maxx always surprises me with their variety!

Because sometimes I am just too lazy to look at my notebook to-do list, I do have the Wunderlist app on my phone. I adore this app because you can set yourself deadline dates, so you won't miss what you need to do! It's also a great app for keeping track of particular blogger chats as you can set a reminder for you too. It's still a fairly new app for me, but I'm slowly beginning to use it for everyday to-do lists too. And you'll always get a satisfying feeling of the 'ting' sound when you tick another to-do off!

How do you stay organise on your blog? What are your top tips?
