This week's is about photography - not something I'm an expert in, but it's part of my 2016 Blogging Resolutions, so hopefully I'll be able to recify this! These tips are mainly for beginner's and a great way to start learning about how to edit your photos and which style suits your blog best. I hope you enjoy!
PicMonkey - Whenever there's a blogger chat question about which programme people use to edit their photos, PicMonkey is one of the most popular. It's a free photo editing website, with the usual crop, resize and exposure edits but also with cool frames, filters, makeup touch ups etc.
I've actually bought the paid version, which is $33 per year, which gives me a lot more choice in terms of filters and editing. You can use these edits and filters too, but it'll have the PicMonkey watermark in one corner.
Canon 1100D - Obviously I can't do a tips post about photography without mentioning a camera! I take all my shots with a Canon 1100D on a 18-55mm lens, which does the job very well. Before I had a mini digital Canon camera which worked for me, but the 1100D is brilliant for getting clear and bright photos. If you're looking at getting a camera, definitely do your research online to find the best brand and model - especially as there's a lot out there nowadays!
Alt Text and Watermarks - These are just a few added tips that I thought would be useful! Adding Title Text and Alt Text to your photos can help make your blog more searchable by the SEO tools. Just add a few keywords on both, with commas in between and you're good to go!
Watermarks and photo copyright isn't something I know in great detail about, but if you're concerned about people using your photos then there's tons of ways you can avoid this happening. Watermarks are probably the easiest, just add your blog URL at the bottom corner of each photo. You can add copyright text somewhere on your blog, just stating you own the photos on here and if people do want to use them, then can they please ask first or link back to your blog. There's a few other technical ways here, but these are a few ways to start off with.
What's your best tool for editing your photos? Any photography tips for beginners?
