Beauty Review: Ren Clarimatte Clarifying Toner

Beauty Review: Ren Clarimatte Clarifying Toner

I'll admit that I haven't tried any REN products before, I've picked them up and always been fascinated by the science and made a mental (and forgotten) note to have a look on their website. But as an opportunity always presents itself, I was in need of spending over £25 on Marks & Spencer in order to get their 2015 Beauty Advent Calendar and the reviews praised the REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toner highly and the deal was done.

Beauty Review: Ren Clarimatte Clarifying Toner

I'll start with the blub: REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toner is an alcohol-free toner to unclog skin and remove dead skin cells for a smoother and even toned complexion (so far, so good). Pore size appears reduced as well as oiliness, as the antimicrobial (say what?!) minimizes the appearance of future breakouts. Extracts include Willow Bark and Mayblossom as antibacterial properties and Glycolic and Lactic Acid to work on declogging skin and removing the dead skin cells.

So does it actually work? In a nutshell, it works with my skin. I'm a definite combination skin, oily around the t-zone and forehead, then I get the occasional dry patches on my cheeks. Just dab a little onto a cotton pad then sweep all across my face and neck after cleansing.

After applying to my face, it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry, which I hate most toners doing. And it doesn't leave a weird film which feels like you need to cleanse again, like most high street micellar cleansers do. Although I am during my 'good' skin time this month, I haven't had any major or minor breakouts whilst using this toner. Of course it'll be good to test for a few months to see whether it's worth buying again, but so far I can't see my skincare routine without it! My pores haven't been visibly reduced, but perhaps with longer use and combining with the rest of the REN range, I may see a difference in my pore size.

Have you tried the REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toner before? Any other REN products I should be trying?

Thanks for reading!
