Work, Life and Blog Balance Part 1

The term "my little corner of the internet" gets thrown around a lot by bloggers, and it is true in many ways. We've all seen how blogging has become more than just a hobby over the past few years, you can earn big bucks from it now and become a full-time blogger - which is something I'm sure most of us couldn't have even imagined or predicted for the future.

What many non-bloggers may not realise or understand is how much time it takes to run a blog, stay active on your social media and actually work full-time and have a social life. There's the 'work-life balance' then there's the 'blog-work-life balance'. If any blogger can honestly hold up their hands (or computer mouse, in internet talk) and say they have never been in a blogging rut or uninspired by their corner of the internet, I applaud you for having your 'blog-work-life balance' sorted.

The many struggles of being a blogger and working full-time has been well documented across blogs, but here's a few of my personal blogging struggles:

- Hello Mr Sun? Do you fancy actually shining when I need to take blog photos in my only spare time at the weekend? Thanks.
- The pain of scheduling all your social media posts. How many times do I do it? Which platforms? Which hashtags to use?!
- Seeing someone pip you to the post on that newest beauty product. I mean really?!
- When you need to write a week's worth of posts, but you also need to catch up on Empire.
- How many blogger chats?! Which ones do I choose?! I just give up.

I'll admit that I've been struggling with my 'blog-work-life balance' in the past eight months or so. Suddenly work has taken over everything and I've been working my way up in the company - and that needs some hard graft. There's been so many times I've thought of leaving "my corner of the internet" for my corner on the sofa and the TV remote but I enjoy blogging too much to leave it behind.

With this in mind, I've come up with a Blogging Manifesto of sorts, something to keep me organised and not pulling my hair out at midnight with five more posts to write. I'll be sharing my new guidelines in part 2 so keep an eye out!

What is your opinion on the 'blog-work-life balance'? How do you stay on top of it all?

Thanks for reading!
