Current Favourite Reads

Lets face it, if there isn't a book in my hand then there's something seriously wrong. I've found a few reading gems over the past year - you know, the ones that you HAVE to read. Generally I don't read crime or thrillers (too many nightmares...) but I enjoy lighthearted books with a serious and meaningful undertone.

1. Summer At Shell Cottage by Lucy Diamond. The new author I've discovered this year - and I'm so pleased I did! Summer At Shell Cottage revolves around the Tarrant family's escape to the a seaside holiday in Devon. There's widow Olivia who discovers her husbands big secret, Freya who is struggling with work and family life and Harriet who's daughter and husband both have their fair share of secrets.... It's one of those 'I did not see that happening!' kind of books. Full book review here.

2.  Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.
Probablythe closest to a thriller or crime book, Rebecca tells the story of a lady's companion being whisked away by Max de Winter, a handsome widower, with a sudden marriage proposal. Returning to de Winter's home, Manderley, the character discovers that she doesn't quite know everything about Max.... Full book review here.

3. The Little Coffee Shop Of Kabul by Deborah Rodriguez.
On recommendation from my Mum, I picked up The Little Coffee Shop Of Kabul without much expectation. The story features five very different women from varied backgrounds to how they can work together to keep the little coffee shop in Kabul, Afghanistan alive in one of the most dangerous places in the world. Full book review here.

4. Beauty by Louise Mensch.
It's hard to believe where Dina Kane came from dragging herself up in poverty to living the lifestyle in Park Avenue, New York. But beauty is the key to her success, not matter who or what gets in her way, Dina Kane will get her revenge and glory. I've just finished reading this but I've got to say, I loved it! Review coming soon.

What's your current favourite book? Anything I should be reading?

Thanks for reading!
