Raising Money For St Catherine's Hospice

Giving something back to a charity in need is always an amazing thing to do - the enjoyment from raising money to seeing where your money is going and helping others.

Twice a year me, my mum and sister hold coffee mornings where we sell cakes, plants, books, hold a raffle and have a Avon and card stand to raise money for our local hospice, St Catherine's. Before that we've done Race For Life raising money for Cancer Research and a Christmas Sanra Run for St Catherine's in our local park. Each time we've raised hundreds of pounds through sponsorship or people buying cakes, books etc.

It all started off when my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, since then we've all done something for a cancer-related charity each year and this year it's the Midnight Walk for St
Catherine's Hospice in June.

Me and my Mum will be walking 13 miles starting from 10:30pm and hopefully finishing before dawn! We've actually did this a few years ago and it's so much fun, as everyone is dressed up (this year is a carnival theme!) and all in the spirit of raising money for such a worthy charity.

St Catherine's is a charity dedicated to providing specialised end of life care and support to local people, their families, friends and carers. And they do all this for free. Each day they have to raise over £15,000 to provide this care, ranging from counselling and support groups to educational groups and physiotherapy clinics.

I'm hoping to raise £100 through sponsorships through my Just Giving page, which will make such a difference to the hospice. Every little bit helps, and obviously I'm not forcing anyone to donate, but even just a £1 can help St Catherine's in providing this care.

I hope you can all help me out in reaching my goal and please share your comments below - I'd love to hear from you :)

Thanks for reading!
