Beauty Tips I'd Tell My Younger Self

Beauty Tips I'd Tell My Younger Self

I spotted this post on Helen aka The Love Cats Inc blog and just thought I'd share my own too! Even though I've never had a really beauty faux pas (fashion on the other hand...!) there's definitely a few things I'd tell my younger self, so here goes.

1. Match your make up.
Being a pale, ginger kid with just her pocket money to go on, there wasn't much choice back in the day. Mostly Seventeen or Natural Collection and maybe a little splurge on a Maybelline product, I always had trouble matching my foundation or eyebrow pencils! And lets face it, the orange foundation look was not a good one...

2. Go easy on the eyeliner.
Again, because I didn't really know what actually suited me, I piled on the black khol eyeliner on my lower lashline. This made my eyes look a lot heavier and droopy, and most of the time the eyeliner would smudge for lovely panda eyes too!

3. Embrace your freckles.
I was obsessed with covering up my freckles across my cheeks and nose with foundation then a heavy duty concealer, but I've learnt to embrace them. They're not actually that bad and add another feature to my face which I quite like.

4. Frizzy, crimped hair is not a good look.
My hair is crazy and wavy anyway, so couple that with crimped hair and I ended up looking like Scary Spice. I used to plait my hair in tons of plaits the night because then untie them the morning after and job done!

5. Take care of your skin.
Now I realise how important SPF and not picking your spots are (come on, we've all done it!) Also getting a good cleansing, toning and moisturiser routine going is good, even if it is just the basics.

There's still tonnes of beauty things I've got to learn, how to contour for example, but I think I've come a long way from my old school beauty days!

What would you tell your younger self?

Thanks for reading!
