Top Things That Happened in 2014

Top Things That Happened in 2014

And the award for the longest title goes to...

2014 has been a massive learning curve for me. And I thought 2013 was a roller coaster! Excuse the cliches, but it's that time of year when you get all reflective and can actually see what the previous year has brought to your life. Obviously I couldn't list all the things that happened in 2014, but I just wanted to share a few highlights with you guys.

1. Got a NCTJ Gold Standard in Journalism

My time studying for my NCTJ can't really be summed up in one word, but it's shown that if I put my mind and effort into something I love then I'll get the results I want. There were times when I really struggled and thought I would never get Gold Standard, but all the late night studying, post-it notes and flash cards finally paid off. I did a post a while ago on my Journalism experience here.

2. Got a job

It was incredibly amazing and lucky to have got a job, which I now adore, so quickly and feel so at home there. I'm currently on an eight month contract that ends in March, so they'll either keep me on at the end or I'll be looking for a new job soon. Either way, I'll be taking those experiences and learning from them to better my career. It's just the beginning here!

3. Reached over 100 Bloglovin' followers

I've never been one to look at the numbers, I'm just enjoying what I'm doing if there's 10 or 10,000 followers. Grateful, thankful and amazed are probably the words I'd describe it, and for me, blogging just keeps getting better and better each time!

4. Experiences

I fell in love with the seaside city of Brighton, ate way too many waffles in Bruges, travelled up The Shard twice, got slightly burnt in Rhodes and saw Bombay Bicycle Club in my favourite gig to date. And there's so much more I want to do in 2015...

5. All thanks to my family and friends

They say an experience is what you make of it, but I believe it's the people you're surrounded by. 2014 was a year with a lot of changes, as people go to uni, move away and basically get on with their lives, but it's the people who stick by you who make it a memorable experience.

2014 was great to me, but I hope 2015 will be even better!
