The Bad Times

Scrolling through my Pinterest feed, as I do many a Sunday morning, I landed on this quote and it just won't leave my thoughts.

Sometimes I think 'God, this day cannot get any worse' but it just makes me even more grateful for the 'good' days. But put that into perspective and is it really that bad?

If you see my Twitter feed, nearly every weekday morning and evening I'm complaining about train delays and general commuter complaints, but in contrast, it's really just a little niggle that we can all deal with. As long as I'm not late for work!

But I'm a firm believer in that you learn from your mistakes and previous experiences, which enables you to grow and improve as a person. Saying that, you never do stop growing as a person and that's kinda a good thing. It's like that John Legend song 'All Of Me' when he talks about perfect imperfections - it's quite nice actually to know that everyone has their own imperfections.

So even if yesterday, today or tomorrow seems like the worse day, just really think rationally, is it actually that bad? Has the world ended because you didn't get the grade on your homework that you wanted? Is it really that bad that you missed out on that amazing ASOS sale?

Let me know your thoughts on this subject! Do you agree with Robin Williams?

OOTD: Fluffy Coat and Tartan Cardigan

OOTD: Fluffy Coat and Tartan Cardigan

Coat: Primark
Jumper: Charity Shop
Top: Forever 21
Jeans: M&S
Shoes: Topshop
Bag: Accessorize

Oooh we all love a bit of tartan during the winter, don't we?! This was such a great buy and I love getting it out for winter. It's the perfectly slouchy jumper for the weekends and doesn't require too much dressing up either.

I'm slowly getting over the polar-bear-style coat and have actually grown to love its cosy and fuzzy fabric. Although I really didn't wear it on the best of days - pouring with rain and super windy! These shoes are also another favourite cosy item! I got them from Topshop years ago and they've proved to be a real investment buy - even if they do feel like slippers, and that's not exactly a bad thing!

What do you think of this outfit?

Hope you're all having a great week,

Let's Talk About Internet Hate

Recently uber youtube star Zoella aka Zoe Sugg posted about why she's stopped daily vlogging. One answer: Internet Hate.

I thought I'd throw my two pence into the whole debate, as it seems to have received a lot of support across the world wide web.

We'll start off like this, Internet hate, in any way, shape or form, is a 100% not okay. Frankly I think it's cowardly and unnecessary. Like the saying goes, if you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.

It's not nice to read nasty comments about you on any place, if you get 10 nice comments and 1 horrible one, you'll more than likely remember the mean one than the others. Because no one likes being judged, especially as youtubers like Zoe etc. only show a snippet of their lives and not the bigger picture.

But with 6 million subscribers, comes a ton of pressure and responsibility. I'm sure no one could've predicted how much of an impact and influence youtubers and bloggers would have nowadays, therefore this is all new ground to everyone.

People are going to judge, no doubt about that, but whether they decide to voice that opinion is another matter. People who feel like spreading negativity or hateful comments should think:

T = is it true?
H = is it helpful?
I = is it inspiring?
N = is it necessary?
K = is it kind?

This acronym has always stood out in my mind whenever I'm doing something on my blog or social media pages, and I think everyone should take something from it.

Let's face it, we don't know where the Internet is going to be in the next 5 years or even 1 year, but tainting the positivity and success now will not help it grow for the future.

What are your thoughts on this subject? Do you agree?

Top Christmas Gifts For Under £10

Top Christmas Gifts For Under £10

Following suite with the blogger trends, it's time for Christmas Gift Guides! When the Christmas season comes around, I'm always on the look out for great quality gifts that won't break the bank and can fill up the stockings. Besides the usual chocolate coins and silly presents, I thought I'd bring together the a few presents for under £10!

Now who doesn't love getting jewellery for Christmas?! It's such a simple yet elegant necklace that can be worn with a simple t-shirt or with a 1920s style flapper dress for nights out.

Not exactly your standard Christmas shopping shop, but you'll be surprised! I love the Wilko home and stationary sections, and their Christmas gifts sets are such great value for money too. You get a shower gel, body lotion, cream bath, bath salt, bath confetti, wash cloth, slippers and a body sponge thing - all for £10.

Sometimes a gimmicky Christmas accessories can be fun! As it turns a lot colder and your skin starts to dry up (Watch this space for my winter skincare essentials!) and hand cream becomes a necessity. And what a better way to feel festive than with a snowman pot!

For that mid-afternoon chocolate craving, Hotel Chocolat is perfect! Amazing quality and fairtrade chocolate that's affordable. I get all my family chocolate from here each year!

Ideal for writing your New Year's Resolutions, it's a great little book to use throughout the year and write down all the amazing things that do happen in 2015!

For those cold and winter days in January, a card like this can really perk someone up and make their day so much better. It's a cute and out-of-the-box present that everyone will love!

What do you think of these gifts?

OOTD: Pink Sweatshirt and Aztec Skirt

OOTD Pink Sweatshirt, Aztec Shirt and Leopard Parker Coat

OOTD Pink Sweatshirt, Aztec Shirt and Leopard Parker Coat
Coat: Zara
Jumper, Skirt, Necklace and Boots: Topshop

Just a walking Topshop advert really! Not entirely intentional - but I do love a good sweatshirt and statement necklace combo! Right now it's all about the Primark Super Cost tights, I can't live without them during the winter. They're perfect for wearing with skirts and boots without freezing your arse off.

I adore wearing pastels in the winter and clashing them with dark monochrome or berry shades (mint and maroon are my favourite pairing at the moment!) I also like how the leopard print mixes with the aztec from my skirt - life is never boring in my wardrobe. I am also so happy to be bringing out my beloved parker again.... it makes me feel so snuggly and all wintery!

Instagram: Dogs, Hummus and Benefit Advent Calendar

It's hard not to be in the festive cheer with all those blog posts flying around and famous Christmas adverts landing on our TV's (I personally love #MontyThePenguin) I'm totally in the Christmas mood now, with only a few weeks left! Watch out for my Top Christmas Gifts Under £10 post coming up soon :)

I just couldn't not share this photo this week! I spotted him whilst walking through town, looking so causal like he does it every day and is just waiting for his chauffeur to arrive. What a dog.

My mum and I went to see the poppies on the last night before they were taken out - and boy was it busy! We managed to shuffle along one side, but it was so packed we couldn't get round all the way, still pretty amazing, even in the dark!

A bit of a throwback to last Halloween when my friend Lu was helping me pick out a costume. I ended up with this pumpkin costume, which has topped my previous witch/cat/devil costumes!

Another super healthy Hummus Bros salad I got last week: they do the richest and yummiest hummus I've tasted for a long time! It's basically a bowl with a layer of hummus, then vegetables and whatever toppings you want in the middle. Obviously I was on a slight health-kick before Christmas and chose falafel's!

Oooh, finally got my hands on one of the Benefit Advent Calendars! My friend picked it up from her work, and I literally can't wait to open door one! I'll be posting each day on my Instagram of what I get behind each door.

I hope you all have a great week!

Eyebrows 101 with Soap & Glory, Rimmel And Beautyuk

Eyebrows 101: Tips, Tricks and my Favourites

Like many other girls and bloggers, I've got issues with my brows. There's no denying it! Because of my fair skin, my eyebrows are practically non-existent, so they require a little helping hand from the below products...

Eyebrows 101: Beautyuk Brow Kit

Eyebrow 101: Beautyuk Brow Kit

I actually received this in a previous Love Me Beauty box, and have never looked back! This was my first powder eyebrow kit and I discovered just why beauty bloggers and friends rave on about them so much! I used the lightest shade to fill in my brows, then the dark brown shade to shade them underneath. Although I've tried using the wax, it's kind of difficult to use - any tips?

Eyebrows 101: Colorsport Smokey Eyes & Perfect Brows Kit

This Colorsport buy was a bit of an impulse purchase, I fancied trying out another powder palette and saw this one was on sale in Boots! It's slightly too red-toned for my light eyebrows, but the dark brown shade will be great for darker eyebrows. This kit is also used for creating smoky eyes, which I also like, as they're so natural and great for everyday.

Tip: The angled brush in this kit is a God-send! Any angled brush is just brilliant for ensuring my brows are perfectly shaped.

Eyebrows 101: Shavata Brow Enhancer

This is kind of and kind of not an eyebrow product, it highlights the brow bone and creates a sharper edge and shape. The formula is fairly creamy, so it's easy to blend, but you had to build it up to create that contour look that Kim K would be jealous of.

Tip: Apply the product direct, then blend it with you fingers. Layering is key with this one too!

Eyebrows 101: Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil

My fail-safe and first eyebrow product! The colour is pretty close to my natural brow colour and the little brush on the end is perfect for brushing them through and making sure they're all in place. Plus it's such a bargain buy, you can't really go wrong!

Eyebrows 101: Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil

The newest and favourite of my eyebrow product collection: in short, my brow saviour. I'd heard about the eyebrow products from Soap & Glory, and just had to try it our. I did a review here a while ago, so I won't go into too much detail. But the spooley is amazing and the colour is almost an exact match!

Tip: Any sort of spooley or brush is essential for keeping your eyebrows in place. I always brush them through, then apply the product and finish off with a quick brush through!

So there's my eyebrows 101, what's your favourite brow product?

OOTD Breton Top and Pink Skirt

OOTD Breton Top and Pink Skirt

Jacket: Zara
Top: ASOS
Skirt and Belt: New Look
Bag: M&S
Shoes: Topshop

All of a sudden I felt very french in this outfit! I wore this a few weeks ago when it wasn't so cold that that I needed to wear my full-on winter coat with extra socks. It's no surprise to this blog that I'm a fan of Brenton T-Shirts and skater-style skirts, and I can't believe I haven't paired these two together before!

The skirt is the perfect length for work, not too long but still not too short! I'll style this skirt up with a thick black jumper and knee-high boots and pair it with my green parker coat in the winter. These boots are still one of my staple items for winter, super comfy for walking around, but you've just got to watch out with what socks to wear because of the cut-outs!

What do you think of this outfit? What's your winter staple?

Instagram Sunday Snippets: Stylist Magazine, Cakes and Nail Polishes

Sundays are one of my favourite days of the week, probably behind finishing work on a Friday evening! Relaxing with a Sunday Roast and watching old Friends episodes whilst catching up with my favourite blogs - there should be more Sundays more often!

Stylish Magazine Exhibition London

A few weeks ago Stylist magazine held an exhibition in London of their best covers. It was so interesting and each cover had a description of how it was created. If you don't pick up a Stylist magazine, then you can download it for free from the iTunes store!

Ha Pea Birthday Bag

It was a close friends' birthday last week and I picked up this gift bag - only to amuse myself of course...

Nails Inc and Ciate Nail Polishes

Another thing I love about Sundays is giving myself a good old pamper, which includes painting my nails! I've never tried Ciate nail polishes before, but was pleasantly surprised with the results!

Christmas Coffee Morning 2014

Christmas Coffee Morning 2014

Christmas Coffee Morning 2014

Yesterday, my sister, mum and I held our annual Christmas Coffee Morning to raise money for our local hospice. Me and my sister man the cake stall, and a few friends help out with the raffle, drinks, an Avon and Card stalls too. In total we raised £342! One of our best so far! Needless to say we were pretty stuffed with cake by the end of it!

So my Sunday has been filled with cakes, Sunday Roast, watching too many Friends episodes and the last Downton Abbey show. I hope you all have a great week!

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show London 2014

A few weeks ago a friend and I popped along to the Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show, and boy, did we eat A LOT of cake...

The general set up of shows like these is having various company stalls selling their related goods and celebrity guests, who will do a masterclass, interviews, book signings and whatever else! They're great value for money and brilliant for inspiration, as well as picking up a bargain or two!

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show Mary Berry

I met the baking Queen herself, Mary Berry. We later queued up for her book signing and said hi, although there wasn't much time for a chat over a cuppa!

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show London

The stalls on offer were amazing with a chocolate corner, baking supply area and seating area in the middle. To break up all the cake eating, we had fancy sausage rolls (Pork and Chorizo, I'll have you know!) for lunch which were equally delicious!

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show

I had to take a picture of this stand. They were selling cake stands, but you could mix 'n' match what style of plates and sizes you wanted! I loved the idea and really wished I picked one up for my sister for Christmas.

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show

Another cool thing was this baking tips wall, where people would leave their baking tips and tricks for everyone to see. There were quite a few 'Listen to Mary Berry' tips!

Various interviews and book signings were held throughout the day, and needless to say Paul Hollywood's and Mary Berry's were the busiest! They were both so lovely and are exactly the same as they are on Great British Bake Off.

A couple of beautiful cakes we saw dotted around the event. I adore the above three tier flower cake - definitely on my future wedding mood board! All the detail and time spent in perfecting the icing, as well as the taste, is astonishing and I'd love to be as precise and creative with a skill like that!

Good Food Bakes & Cakes Show Mary Berry

As part of our ticket we also got to watch a baking masterclass by Mary Berry, who baked muffins and flapjacks and made it all look so easy! Paul came and joined Mary later, and taste tested all her food. The banter and chemistry they have between them is hilarious and so entertaining - almost as good as Mel and Sue...

So there's my Bakes & Cakes experience! Let me know what you think of the cakes in the comments :)

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

Although I'm not a make up guru or expert, I know a good foundation base can make all the difference to your make up.

A little background to my make up preferences: I hate, hate, cakey foundation that looks like you've just slam dunked your face into a pot of foundation. And don't even get me started on those orange-to-white jaw lines! All in all, I'm all about natural-looking make up whilst not spending a fortune.

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

Starting off with the ever so hyped Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer. As concealers go, it's great for covering blemishes, imperfections and dark eye circles. But be warned, sometimes it can lean towards the cakey side! I generally use this for under my eyes and have found that it sometimes slides into my lines.

Tip: For using this concealer, I always use a small brush. Sometimes it works well blending with your fingers, but a brush gives you the ease of blending for a natural look.

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

Another equally hyped concealer, the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer. Much lighter than the Collection version, I actually prefer this over it. Although I wouldn't use on blemishes, it's perfect under the eyes and instantly brightens them.

Tip: Less is more with this product, so don't apply too much. And I always find apply little blobs under my eyes makes it a lot easier to blend!

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

My first official liquid concealer, before this one it was those unhygienic sticks from Seventeen! The MAC Select Cover-Up is my all-time favourite. Brilliant at getting rid of dark eyes and spots, the only thing is that you have to work quickly with this product, otherwise it sets fast!

Tip: I'll apply the tiniest and I mean tiny, blob to the back of my hand, then use a small concealer brush to blend under my eyes and dab onto spots.

Concealer 101 with Rimmel, Collection, MAC and Benefit

Benefit's Boi-ing is a fairly recent discovery, after neglecting it for the past few months when receiving it as a Christmas present last year. I started off using 01 because I thought it matched my pale skin, but actually 02 works best as it counteracts my dark eye circles like a dream!

Tip: Warm the product with your finger tips first, then dab across your eyes or blemish rather than dragging.

So there's my concealer 101 collection and tips! What's your favourite concealer? Any tips?

OOTD: 60s Gingham Dress and Fluffy Coat

Coat and Dress: Primark
Cardigan: H&M
Boots: Topshop

Bringing out an oldie, but a goodie, I adore this 60s style dress and high neckline! It's smart enough for a day at the office, yet worn with a pair of worn Converse and denim jacket it can totally be worn at the weekends.

I was totally unsure about wearing this coat with this outfit - I didn't want to look like a P-Diddy/Rap reject! Even so, it's unbelievably warm and cosy, I could totally look over my fear of commuters thinking I'm about to break out into a rap. I've got to apologise for the creasy cardigan, when you're getting dressed at 6am, you're not really looking at the state of your clothes so much!

What's your oldie but a goodie piece of clothing?

Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a great week!

Instagram: Mary Berry, OOTD and a lazy week

Writing and this blog is first and foremost my passion, but sometimes general day-to-day stuff gets in the way. This blog has been a little slack recently - but it's time to pick myself up and dust off the cobwebs, because nothing ever comes to you if you don't work hard. Saying that, I've got a ton of blog ideas that I just can't wait to share!

Following on from the intro, I always worry about the little things and that then takes up time where I could be doing more useful things. So, if you do anything this week, stop caring about the little things and the happier you will be!

Myself and Mary Berry just having a chat over her stylish jacket! Last weekend I went along to the Good Food Bakes and Cakes Show, met Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and ate way too much cake. Bloody good cake at that!

Probably one of my favourite OOTD's for a long time! This weird winter heatwave (if you can even call it that!) has totally challenged my wardrobe this week! I adore this jumper and coat combo, and can definitely see them popping up a lot in future OOTD's! OOTD post here.

This video literally made my Sunday. As a crazy cat lady, I usually don't like owners who dress up their cats, but just imagine the 'A Whole New World' soundtrack to Aladdin and I guarantee it'll make you smile!

New start to a new week! Thanks for reading,
Rhiannon xx
