Gig: Michael Malarkey

Michael Malarkey at the Slaughter Lamb Pub/ Me and Kamila/ And no trip to London would be complete without Five Guys burgers!

Sometimes I think it's the smaller and more intimate gigs that are just as good as the mainstream events. What I liked about this particular gig was the fact that Michael actually came into the crowd to watch the support acts before performing himself. Even before that he just strolled up to the pub and chatted with his friends before talking to everyone who had come to see him play.

Besides only listening to his music a week before online, his live sets are actually really good. The support acts were also surprisingly great too, especially Samuel Taylor and Nikki Dodds, so to say we got great value for money was another thing. I'd describe Micheal's songs as more folky, kinda country style, which is always quite refreshing to hear in amongst all the heavy rock, dance and rap that seems to be floating about at the moment.

Overall it was an amazing gig and I'm so glad that I went along - Thanks Kamila! If you ever get the chance to see Michael then I'd definitely recommend him, as well as giving a gorgeous musical performance, he adds a touch of personality to it, which is always a bonus.

Thanks for reading!

  2. Intimate sets are infinitely better; it's so cool that he actually made this way through the crowd. Unfortunately, there's a tradeoff as artists get more popular and are able to grab bigger arenas.
