Review: Eleven by Mark Watson

Yes, another book review! I probably wouldn't have normally picked this up to read, but as it was a birthday present from my parents I thought I should give it a go! My mum said she bought it after reading that people who liked One Day would like this too (you might just be able to make it out on the front!). Basically it mostly focuses on a guy called Xavier, can we just take a moment to appreciate how cool that name is?!! Better than a boring Sam or Tom (I don't mean to offend anyone who is called that!). Anyway the kinda catch line of the book is One Moment, Eleven Lives, Endless Consequences. So I guess you can figure out what the basic plot line is. It starts off with Xavier deciding not to intervene in a situation, which then effects that person, to effect another and another etc. Cleverly Mark Watson manages to create a good balance between Xavier and the other characters to not make it too complicated! In the end the eleventh person effected, effects Xavier in some sort of way (it's so hard not to reveal the ending!), so it all basically comes into a circle in the end. Not a massively happy book, nor sad either but one of those ones where you think a lot about life and all that mushy stuff! I would recommend it as a one time read, as I wouldn't pick it up again but if you love intricate plot lines then go for it!

Thanks for reading!
