Rhiannon's Raving Report #11

A prominent news story dominating the week has been the final sentencing of Mick and Mairead Philpott and Paul Mosley. Mick Philpott was told he would serve a minimum of 15 years with Mairead Philpott and Paul Mosley serving half of their 17 year sentence. The trial heard how Mick Philpott had plotted to set alight the house to frame his former mistress, with whom he was having a custody battle with over their children. 6 of their 11 children died in the fire, with their ages ranging from 13 to 5. I hope that now these horrible people have received their sentences that their children can now rest in peace.

Policewoman Kelly Jones is suing a petrol station after she tripped over a kerb whilst pursuing a break-in last week. It's been reported that she's demanding £50,000 after injuring her leg and wrist as the kerb exposed herself 'to unnecessary risk of injury'. There's has been vast amounts of debating over this issue, with other reports claiming that she has now demanding compensation from her own police force for another incident. In my opinion, I think that it is quite selfish and petty to be arguing over such a silly accident.

In comparison to the bright and colourful summer of 2012, the Olympic park is now a sad sight. There are many events which the park is going to be used for, which is obviously a happy ending, however, I don't know if it's just me but modifying it, which will cost millions, seems pointless when it's in perfect working order for other sports events. Either way it's great to see that it's being put to good use!

I'm not a massive follower of horse racing but after seeing a lot of reports I managed to get the basics! This year's race was won by Auroras Encore, piloted by Ryan Mania a 66-1 outsider, totally unexpected win. Obviously the bookies were sitting smug as hardly anyone backed the winning horse, luckily my mum put my name down on the winning horse at her work's sweep stake so I won £24! But I think I'll be spending the money on her as it was her idea!

Isn't this baby sooooo cute??!!

Hope you all have a good week!
