Film Review: Catch Me If You Can

Yes Leo, you can catch me! haha I've been meaning to do this post for a while now, as it's a really amazing film! It's a little bit complicated to explain but it's based on a true story about a young man, Frank Abagnale Jr, and how he managed to con millions of dollars' worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and lawyer, all before he was 19. He runs away to New York, at a young age, after his parents separate and vows to pay back his father's debts and get his parents back together. He's being constantly chased by FBI agent, Carl Hanratty, after forging checks and, basically, stealing money. He is then caught in France and is tried and jailed for passing bad checks. Carl convinces the FBI to give Frank a job by detecting bank frauds and serves the remainder of his sentence in that job. The film ends with Frank and Carl discussing the next case and the credits reveal that Frank has been happily married for 26 years, has three sons, lives in the Midwest, is still good friends with Carl, has caught some of the world's most famous money forgers, and earns millions of dollars each year because of his work creating unforgeable checks.
It's one of the best films I have ever seen. I like films which you have to think about the plot and what's going to happen next. It is a very very clever plan and amazing that at my age he was on the run, posing as so many different characters. I'd probably liken this to Public Enemies, only better!
Hope you have enjoyed this post!

Alice in Wonderland

Hoodie: H&M
Top: Urban Outfitters
Scarf and Shoes: River Island

Howdy all! Lazy outfit for a lazy person! I don't know what it is this week but I just have no energy, at the moment I'm blaming the weather, miserable weather = miserable Rhiannon. On a high note I've discovered my love for these wedge trainers again, even though I can't walk in them still, they're just so pretty. My Alice In Wonderland t-shirt normally lurks at the back of my wardrobe but it's dug itself out for an appearance. Definitely one of my favourites to wear on a lazy day!

I've managed to finish my music video that I've done as part of my school coursework, so hopefully I'll be allowed to publish it on here for you guys to see (and see my badly rushed work! haha) but I've got to get permission from my teacher first. So that's another thing ticked off my list for me to finish this week! Woop.... just another 1,000 words for my history essay and finish off all my media coursework and I'll be done, minus a few days sleep but hey that's not the spirit! haha

Hope you're all enjoying your week :)

Mustard and Leopard

Cardigan: H&M
Top: Topshop (Previously sisters)
Jeans: M&S
Boots: Peacocks
Earrings: Accessorise

Hey guys! What a horrible day, ay? Definitely not a good hair day. I took these pictures this morning coz I knew once I get home the sunlight will go and my hair will look a bit crazy! This cardigan was annoying me a bit as it's so big but there wasn't a small there :( and I am hoping that my mum will shrink it as she does shrink most of my things but so far that hasn't happened! Don't you hate that what it happens? When you really want something to happen which happens all the time accidentally but the only time you really want it to happen it doesn't! If that makes sense....

So it's about two/three weeks until feb half term.... and it couldn't come any quicker! I have a ton of coursework in before we break up and so far I'm about half way but the other half is the really difficult, the stuff that I really don't want to do but leave it until the last minute! Silly Rhiannon! Once I'm in the right mind set I can type for hours and just keep going, so hopefully I'm just going to power through tomorrow and Wednesday and just get it all done. I'm just keeping the finishing line in sight..... and a Nandos chicken burger!

Hope you're all enjoying your week!

New Look S/S13

Almost every day I get a little update from Look magazine and this week as part of their email, it was New Look's new collection for Spring/Summer! So I've complied a few bits which I love and definitely ( If I have the monies!) going to buy!

I love the pink embellished dress! So pretty! I'd really like to try an all print suit, but I don't have the guts to do it! But this pink one is very tempting for spring....

The two blue dresses are probably ones that I'll keep any eye out when shopping, as I think they're really good for sixth form as they aren't too dressy if I wear plain accessories with it. On the last year of sixth form my school has a prom that's a bit more casual than the actual prom, so I thinking that a short dress would be better and so far I haven't seen any that I like yet, but this pink embellished one is going to be on the list (Yes there's most likely going to be a list!)

Having a bit of an overload of pretty clothes right now! There are no words for how pretty those blue printed shorts are....

If only I could pull these off! I may be tempted to buy the blue polka dot pair, they look so comfy, practically like pjs!

I'm so very glad that Aztec print, pastel shades and floral collars are still a prominent trend for spring and summer!

Sorry for the picture over load but it was so difficult to narrow it all down! I hope everyone is just as excited as I am for spring and summer this year now!

Hope you're enjoying your weekends :)

Purple Stars

Hey guys! Hope you're all enjoying your Friday's :) Today's outfit was based on the colour purple again! I have been wearing this colour quite a lot recently, I don't know why but I did some googling to find out what purple signifies. Apparently it symbolises deep contemplation and meditation! I guess maybe that's because I have suddenly realised that time is running out before the end of sixth form which means a few big decisions and a need to reorganise everything. I'm quite organised anyway but I need a sort out soon! I took a picture of my nails too, to show how much I'm loving purple at the moment! My friend bought me the purple nail polish for my birthday but I haven't used it much because of work health and safety. So after I received a silver glitter nail polish from my sister at Christmas, I thought overlapping them would create a nighttime starry sky look! I still keep looking at them in awe, my nails are normally a mess but they look so pretty at the moment!

So last night me and a few friends went to Nandos after sixth form for a bite to eat. It's one of my favourite places to eat, the chicken and mango and lime sauce is the best! We were looking in travel agents at holidays in Kos, I can't wait for a bit of sun and sand! It'll be the first holiday just the girls, so it'll definitely be an experience! We were also talking about going to Reading festival, Eminem is playing!! He's one of my favourite artists of all time, so that would be amazing to see! From now on, not more shopping and lots of saving! Lets see how long that lasts! haha

Hope everyone is well :)

Purple like Barney and an Unconditional Offer!!

Jumper and Top: H&M (Previously my sisters)
Jeans: M&S
Necklace: Present

Howdy all! So today has been a fabby day..... I received an unconditional offer from Brighton college! I did a post the other day about how I got on in the interview and how I was expecting to hear back in about two weeks. Well I received a letter today saying that I've got an unconditional offer and I looked to see when they sent it and it was the same day that i had my interview  so i think I must have made a good impression! So I think that an unconditional means that I'll have a place no matter what happens, so that takes off a bit of the pressure! I'm still going to have a look at a few unis, the ones that are my favourite ones anyway. Basically I can't wait to start now!!

I'm loving a bit of purple recently, this shade feels quite summery, which is what we all need after a drab and boring January. Is everyone else fed up of the snow yet? It's just ice around where I live now, not my best friend. I've fallen over so many times now, that I'll avoid it anyway i can! This necklace is a very special present from a friend of mine, we both spent ages trying to find the best presents for each other and she knew that I like birds so this was the perfect match!

Hope everyone is having a good week :)

New Winter Jumper!

Jumper: Miss Guided
Necklace: Miss Selfridge
Jeans: M&S

You can never beat a good, cosy winter jumper! Since we've been having all the bad weather, jumpers have been all that I've worn recently. This was actually suppose to be my sisters but she didn't like the colour, so I tried it on and we decided that its a 'ginger colour'! It may take awhile to get use to it but I think it'll grow on me! I bought this necklace a few years ago and the clock used to work but once the battery ran out I couldn't be bothered to change it! haha

Today's been a lazy day, you know when you feel so tired that you actually start falling asleep without realising it? Trying to read a book in English literature was taking a lot of my concentration! Tonight is the national TV awards so I think I'll be relaxing whilst watching that!

Hope you guys are having a good week!

NCTJ Entrance Exam and City Brighton College Interview!

I thought I'd just do a little (I hope!) post on my interview and NCTJ exam, as I only found out about it all through another persons blog, so I thought I'd chuck in my own experience of it!
So yesterday I had my interview and exam for a journalism course in Brighton. It was a little difficult to get down there because of the snow, but, luckily, there were coaches running to replace the cancelled trains. As usual I was way to early, I thought it would get lost looking for it but it was quite easy to find it! Just follow all the students! haha. I was then told to wait in the foyer until the tutors came and collect us. Whilst I was waiting all the other students turned up and a really nice lady, called Lucy, started chatting to me about why she's here and what she's brought in her portfolio, which helped calm my nerves a bit becuase she was in the same position as me. My portfolio isn't amazing, only a few clippings of bits I've done of the school magazine and then evidence of my other interests, such as this blog and collages that I like making. But there was definitely enough for me to talk about so there wasn't any awkward silences! The tutors first went through an introduction in the course then we sat the NCTJ exam. It's split into three parts:

  1. Grammar and Punctuation
  2. News Telling
  3. Current Affairs
The first section was quite easy and I actually enjoyed doing it. The second section was a load of quotes about an exploding can of sausages..... and you had to make it into a 200 word article! I tried to make it light-hearted and funny, hopefully that came across! The current affairs was the trickiest bit, questions that spanned over 2 years which range from politics, economics, sport (blergh!) and gossip. I think I've definitely got at least half of them right, so it's not a bad start! There were also a few maths questions which threw me off a bit, like percentage change and working out the differences, which bearing in mind that I haven't done maths for about two years now, I think I scrapped through!

After all of that it was finally the interview! I had the same tutor who I met on the open evening so it was nice to have someone familiar. He asked a few scary questions which I had to think of on the spot but I hope I came through on the other side! haha. I showed him my portfolio which was helpful as I could show him what I can do and it kept my hands busy!

I really do hope I manage to get a place, as it's an ideal place to study and the course looks like just what I'm looking for! I'll hear back from them in about two weeks, so fingers crossed everyone!

Have a good week guys!

Rhiannon's Raving Report #3

Poor Snowman! Do you think he did it on purpose? Must have hurt! I'm sure you all know about the snow that's hit Britain for the past few days and about all the traffic disruptions that come with it. Fortunately around where I live we have not had loads of snow but enough for the schools to shut and for me to not drive to work today! It's also be reported on the Daily Mail that the snow is expected to last for up until two weeks! Yeah, I think I'm bored of you now snow....

This is the road block preventing access to the gas plant in Algeria where hostages are being held. It's been a very prominent story with the press recently, especially as it's turning more and more violent. I don't know enough about the situation in the middle east and Africa to put across my opinion but I do know about Al-Qaeda and the story revolving around them. It is a very very difficult job in deciding how to go about getting the hostages out alive, and without much information being released to the press, we, as the public, don't receive the full story. Currently on news websites, it says that the hostage crisis has come to an end and fewer than 10 British hostages have remain 'at risk or unaccounted for'. All I know is that in that situation it would take a lot of courage for me to get through that all.

I'd think that most people would recognise this man as Lance Armstrong, seven times winner of the Tour De France and now as the doped up seven times winner of the Tour De France. I strongly believe that people should use their own natural abilities to succeed, however I do understand the pressures of needing to be best of the best. I'm not defending what he did as with that high profile it's inevitable that you'll come tumbling of your pedestal. He is now claiming 'I deserve to be punished. I don't deserve the death penalty' Now the death penalty is another totally different issue which I fully disagree with but yes he does deserve to be punished as he lied and cheated his way through everything. The effects are now perhaps doubts of other sportsmen and women, which is a shame as they've most likely worked their arses off!

You may have seen on another report I did about the Duchess of Cambridge's portrait and how quite a few people didn't like it. Now a portrait of the Queen has been released after being hidden from view for 60 years. This portrait was painted by John Napper in 1952, who has seemed to have given the Queen a rather long neck, to which he himself described it as 'a beautiful painting of a queen, but not this Queen'. John Napper afterwards painted a similar version with a smaller neck which hangs in Liverpool Town Hall. I don't think it's as bad compared to the portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge as he does get the detailing of the dress well!

I shall leave you with a video clip found on you tube about a recent story about a supermarket and their burgers...

Hope you've enjoyed this post today!!

I think it's definitely going to be a film day...

My outfit today is so boring that there's no point in taking any pictures! At the moment I'm in my onesie as it's so chilly! I did have sixth form this morning and I did go in but they sent us home after an hour, coz most of us live at 10 minute drive out and most of the teachers come from Brighton way so no one fancied staying any longer! Plus the buses were warning of a reduced service so the kids had to leave early anyway. I find it funny that when it snows all the travel goes into chaos and no one can get anywhere, but I do understand why after driving home from school I don't fancy going out again! So, ramble finished, instead of showing you my outfit I thought I'd share pictures from my garden:

The chickens weren't impressed!!

At the moment I am working tomorrow, but I'm hoping that they'll call me and tell me not to come in ,even though I only like 10 minutes drive away! Although last year when it snowed they still made me walk in and shovel snow :( Fingers crossed they don't make me go in!

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow, stay safe!

Jumper: Primark
Scarf and Necklace: Sister
Jeans: Next
Boots H&M

Afternoon all! Feeling the cold yet? It's bloomin' freezing! At first when everyone else was getting the snow, we had none :( Now there's tons expected tomorrow and Saturday! Can't wait, I'm secretly hoping that work says don't worry about coming in, but I doubt they will! This outfit was just based on warmth, I had so many layers on underneath that I was toasty all day, but I forgot to out thick socks on so my toes were chilly :( It's the worst thing ever to have cold feet and hands, they're the most difficult to get warm!

It turned out that quite a few of my lessons were cancelled today as one the teachers is ill, so I got a bit of work done in the frees. I hope that I can get to school tomorrow as all my work is there and I need it over the weekend! Tonight I'm helping my friend film her music video, but luckily I'm not in it! haha

Hope you guys are having a good week!

Rhiannon's Raving Report #2

I'll start off with the biggest news in the uk toady. As I was driving to school, around 8:30ish I heard on the radio about a helicopter crashing into a crane in the Vauxhall area in London after attempting to make an emergency landing due to weather conditions. It brought back images of 9/11 and the 7/7 bombings, horrible events. Unfortunately the pilot and a passer-by both died. It's also come out that the crane driver had been late that morning, if he'd been any earlier then he would've been killed too.

Another main headliner is horse meat being used in burgers for supermarkets. I can't quite believe or understand how they've managed to get away with it in the first place! Traces of the meat have been found in Tesco  and other supermarket burgers, with the highest up to 29% I think that I now might turn vegetarian! As would everyone I think!

It's always a sad time when shops that have been around for ages, go into administration. I remember when Woolworths went and we had to find other places to buy our pick 'n' mix and pencil cases! I found a Woolworths pencil the other day, it should be in a museum now! HMV are now looking for a potential buyer to help them out with their money troubles. They're still open, but I can't believe that they aren't accepting gift cards now, can that really be legal?! Luckily I didn't get any this year, but I have got a dodgy dvd from my big bang theory box set bought from them for Christmas, whats the likely hood that they'll exchange it now....

Last night, as there wasn't much on, I switched over to watch Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents. One of the funniest programmes I've ever seen! The kids faces when they realise their parents have been watching is priceless! If it was me I think I would've copped on that something was going on, well I hope I would have! I just think that their livers must be disgusting after all of that alcohol!

My favourite story today. An unamed woman has begged the RSPCA to take away her guinea pigs after 100 of them OVERRAN HER HOME. I love guinea pigs, I used to have two, Sunflower and Poppy, but two is enough! They must eat and poop so much, no wonder she wanted to get rid of them! The RSPCA have been taking them in batches but have left her four of the same sex..... aw isn't that nice...

Hope you enjoyed this post!

I like turtles

Jumper and Boots: New Look
Top: Seal (shop in America)
Necklace: M&CO, I think!

Turtles are pretty cool I think! I like mixing textures together, I wear these quite a lot together as the lace and knit bounce off each other well. At one point I was wearing this necklace with everything, I mean everything! He used to have black eyes but they've rubbed off so he's now a blind turtle :( I probably should paint some on with a dark nail polish!

I feel like I've been running around crazily busy recently. So much has been happening that I feel like I've neglected my blog a little, as I had loads of plans of posts to do, stuff that's going to be more interesting and something that I will like nattering about. As I think after a while outfit posts just show up the same outfits each time, so I might throw in a little news post or beauty post every now and then. I also LOVE watching films, so I might be doing a few reviews of films too. Now I have said this all and published it on here, I think I'll have to do it now! An upcoming post near the end of the month will be me decorating my new room! I'm so looking forward to it all, I thinking of a pale green/duck egg shade as a feature wall and loads of photos everywhere! Any one else got any ideas or tips for decorating a new room?
