Sticks and Stones

“This life is what you make it. Not matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soul mate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.”
― Marilyn Monroe

I love quotes and sayings like this. This one is actually one my wardrobe door so I read it every morning, which helps me feel more confident about myself and keeps me smiling throughout the day.

Have you got a favourite quote?

Fashion Inspiration #5

By far my favourite..... Emma Watson!

I think I can probably talk forever about how much this girl is a fashion inspiration to me but here's a few points about her and images of her best outfits!

Casual:
Emma has perfected the thrown together look and this one is no exception. The trench coat and trilby hat gives Emma a masculine style, as does the dark tones and chain handbag. Overall this casual rocker outfit stands out again Emma's usual style of girl next door and is just right for travelling or just going out.

Formal:
Her Oscar De La Renta dress she wore for the last Harry Potter premier stands out for me because it's bold and beautiful without being too much in your face. The slight detailing on the top half and ruffles on the skirt do all the talking so there's no need for any statement jewellery as such. It looks great with Emma's pixie crop (which I'd love to try but just haven't got the guts.... or the face!) which is a style trend in it's self and easy to do. Overall a 5 star rating and thumbs up for a beautiful and stunning dress!

Hope you enjoyed all the fashion inspirations as much as I have! And who knows what's next....

Great Time for Ducks!

Will this rain go away....... please?
The endless noise and wet feet are going to benefit anyone, except the hosepipe ban! The soggy coats and countless puddles being splashed on you (yeah, thanks cars!) are just a few bits that us English have to endure most of the year!

On the other hand......

A great time to get the patterned wellies and cute coats out! Plus doesn't it always feel so good to snuggle up inside the warm with a massive bag of popcorn and a Harry Potter marathon? Perfect way to enjoy the summer soaking showers!

Of course this means that we'll have a steaming hot summer.... hopefully :)

Rant over!
Thanks for reading!

Fashion Inspiration #4

The gorgeous Kate Moss!

She's part of my fashion inspiration because she does the effortless biker chick so well! She knows what suits her best and adds touches of glam through the printed scarf and Mary Jane shoes. Classic laid back thrown together look of hers. No wonder she's a model!

Her wedding dress I fell in love with when I first saw it! She totally rocks the bohemian princess look with the slight detailing of sequins along the edge, the sheer panels on the straps and floaty material adding to the beauty of it. A dress made for her I think!

Granny or Chic?

Shoes: New Look
I've been hesitating about getting these shoes because they're not my normal style but I thought I'd try them out for the summer! I showed my sister who called them 'Granny shoes!' but I think with the right dress and a pop of coloured nail polish it should work..... right? Any ideas guys?

My other purchases are practical for when I start sixth form again tomorrow :( and a necklace that was calling me to buy it!

Necklace: Accessorise        Black Jeans and Bag: Marks and Spencers

I've wanted a Saint Christopher necklace for ages, as it protects you from long journey's and the style is so easy to wear. Black skinny jeans are a must have in my wardrobe and are always worn atleast twice a week, so my old ones were getting a bit tired and baggy (the perfect excuse to shop for some new ones, right?!). The bag is my favourite out of all of them. It's stylish, with a greyish blueish greenish snake skin, it fits my books and a ton of other stuff plus it's sturdy so is going to last forever (hopefully!). Definitely worth the money!

Thanks for reading! As always comment on any posts :)

Fashion Inspiration #3

Mary-Kate and Ashley!
Not the most obvious choice but I love their unique style about them!

Even though they wear totally different outfits they still seem to work together. Their typical smoky eyes, beach hair waves and quirky fashion tastes stand out from the norm of either 'safe' designers or outrageous what-the-hell?! outfits. They created a range called Elizabeth & James in 2007 which ranges from masucline style cuts to floaty feminie skirts and dresses that are easy to wear (however they come totally out of my budget!!). Basically these two are on my top fashion inspirations because they're different to the 'normal' fashion looks and they can work anything!

Life is like a box of choclates....

..... you're never know what you're gonna get"

Don't you just love sayings like that?

Of course, I watched Forrest Gump (again!) and felt so moved and passionate about it that I had to write something about it.

Not many films make me want to change to a more positive attitude but something about Forrest did. The way he was so innocent and caring towards his family and friends made it a heart breaking story when each of them left him. The way he adapted to changes in his life and never hesitating or thinking twice about his actions has made me admire Forrest.

Tom Hanks plays Forrest brilliantly, I can't imagine any other actor playing the role to match Tom's. I believe that sometimes the older the film the better (Forrest Gump is around 18 years old). Forrest Gump has a simple story line, variety of characters and shows you the ups and downs of a 'different' man's life. If you're into films showing a life story or just love romance, Forrest Gump is a film I recccomend to anyone.

Fashion Inspiration #2

Olivia Palermo

I love watching The City when it's on TV and Olivia is my favourite character! Her style is unique and yet she still looks gorgeous without wearing anything that's revealing. She always seems to get it bang on trend and is constantly praised in magazine reviews. This is one of my favourite outfits of hers, the masculine waistcoat, fierce belt and chunky necklace gives her a attitude whilst the plain colour scheme of her top and floral print skirt contrasts with this, toning down the look. I love to go shopping with her!

God Bless the Queen!

Hope everyone has enjoyed the Jubilee weekend (4 days!, Woop!) Loving the butin, Victoria sponges, street parties and Pimm's o'clock!

I enjoy these kind of festivities every year and love getting all the family and friends round to toast to the Royals!

Just thought I'd add a few pictures of the Jubilee and our food. Plus my recipe for my awesome Victoria sponges! Hope you like!

My yummy Victoria Sponges and patriotic cheesecakes and finally our crammed table of food!!
Victoria Sponges

Ingredients: Normally I weigh 3 eggs, then match their weight to the butter, self-raising flour and caster sugar. Or you can alternatively do 175 grams of each and 3 eggs.

First off pre-heat the oven to around 180° (our oven normally changes it temp so keep an eye on them!) whisk the sugar and butter in a bowl until light and fluffy. Then add the eggs and a small amount of the flour (to stop the eggs from curdling) until blended into a mixture then add the rest of the flour. Use grease-proof paper on the bottom of the cake tins, to stop the cake from sticking to the tin, then pour in the mixture and put into the oven. Check around 10-15 minutes later. If they're golden brown and you poke them and they bounce back up then they're done!

Leave them to cool for half an hour or so, so you can begin decorating! For the butter icing I normally just chuck the butter and icing sugar in and see what it tastes like! Generally people say add twice as much icing sugar as you would butter, but it's whatever you prefer. Then add any jam you want, raspberry, strawberry, plum etc. And to finish off sprinkle a little icing sugar on top and add your union jack flag!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Fashion Inspiration

Like I mentioned in my previous posts, I'm trying to post a lot more. So I've decided to do my top 5 fashion inspirations. Hope you like it!
First off. The lovely Lauren Conrad.
From watching the Hills to reading her Style book, I'm in total awe of this lady and how she manages to have the time to look amazing! I'd definitely want to raid her wardrobe!!

I can post thousands of pictures of her from the Internet (which there are) but this is from her Style book, which I recommend to any budding fashion stylist or anyone who is interested in fashion in general.

My favourite outfit from her is a red high-waisted skirt with a simple top and sandals.
This styles suits her so much and I love the thrown together look. It's great for going out shopping or for lunch with friends!

Up next is Olivia Palmero!!!
